Festive season brings roaring sales to Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal

This festive season when customers are overloaded with discounts by various e-commerce portals, the top ecommerce companies in India Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal have pinnacled their sales as compared to their past sales from the very start of the festival. Indian online retailers are having high expectation from this sale season and are hoping to achieve the target of Rs.12000 crore of total sales altogether. The attention grabbing fact about this festive season is that the online retailers in the country have been successful in luring the shoppers from tier II and tier III cities. It is further more remarkable to see that online shoppers from tier II towns such as Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar islands are taking over the shopping landscape.

The US based Amazon and Bengaluru based Flipkart are stealing each other’s thunder with enticing discount offers. On 3rd October Flipkart alleged to have recorded its highest-ever single day sales and sold products worth Rs 1,400 crore. In reply to this Amazon declared a day after that its overall business grew three times as compared to last year. The American online retail giant said that sales from tier II and tier III cities have escalated 17 times over last year and on the basis of a report the company added that they have encountered a five-fold growth in new customer acquisition which included 70% from tier II & III towns.

Flipkarts with its “Big billion Sale“ is targeting 3350 crore sales. The company’s celebration started with the sale of 5 lakh units sale in the initial hour and after that in the first 12 hours Flipkart along with its design gateway Myntra sold 2.25 million units. Amazon India on other hand in its initial 30 minutes sold one lakh units and in opening 12 hours of “Great Indian Sale” sold 1.5 million units. As per the US Company in its five-day Festive Sale, Prime, the newly added service by the company, had amazing response. The third ecommerce retailer Snapdeal declared that it sold 1.67 million units in early 16 hours of “Unbox Diwali” sale. Snapdeal further asserted to engross 11 lakh buyers from over 2,800 cities and towns across India on its marketplace during the initial 16 hours. In this season the company wishes to encounter a sale of 11 million units and register gross sales of Rs 1,700-1,800 crore.

Whoever steals the show this festival, the discount wars by these online retailers have made customers to be the ultimate beneficiary.
